The lithotripsy unit is the first of its kind in the UAE. Patients are treated without surgical intervention or anesthesia or radiology risks. Hospital departments are equipped with modern machines, equipment, scientific technologies manned by qualified medical staff, including UAE nationals and expatriates.

Al Mafraq Hospital is the main centre in the region where Royal College fellowship examinations are held. It organizes courses in basic surgery skills in collaboration with, and under the supervision of the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow, United Kingdom. It comprises the Remote Medicine Department which is in continuous contact with the Medical Consultancy Establishment. At Al Mafraq Hospital, UAE nationals can also achieve Arab Board status.
